Investing in the Future of Our Firefighter Families
The United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association Local 493 is proud to announce the 2025 Scholarship Program for college-bound children of our members. Since the 1970s, we’ve supported families with the rising costs of higher education.
Eligibility Requirements
- Graduating High School Senior (Class of 2025) from an accredited Arizona High School.
- Son, stepson, daughter, or stepdaughter of an Active or Retired Member of Local 493 in good standing.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA (submit a copy of your High School Transcript).
- Must enroll full-time in an accredited four-year College, University, or Arizona Community College.
- Submit a completed application by 3:30 PM on January 23, 2025.
Process
- Applicants will complete an application and write an essay on a given topic.
- Essays are sent to an outside source for grading.
- The top 17 essays will be awarded scholarships.
Important Dates
- January 23, 2025 - Applications are due by 3:30pm. No late applications accepted.
- January 24, 2025 - Essay topic and guidelines will be mailed out
- March 7, 2025 - Essays are due by 3:30pm. No late essays accepted.
- Early April - Notification of scholarship awards
- May 1, 2025 - Scholarship Award Ceremony (please save the date)

2025 Scholarships
We are excited to offer 17 scholarships, including five four-year scholarships. Each scholarship provides meaningful support for deserving students.

Four Year Scholarships
Each four-year scholarship recipient will receive $4,000 in the first year, followed by $3,000 annually for the next three years. The 2025 four year scholarships are;

First Year Scholarships
Each of these scholarships provide a one-time award of $2,500 for the first year of college. The 2025 first year scholarships are;
